What is an ACRISS or Sipp code?
ACRISS is Association of Car Rental Industry Systems Standards, of which Europcar is a member. The ACRISS codes are the vehicle category codes and are established to help provide common standards for use when booking car rental services through automated booking systems. These codes are also called Sipp Codes (Standard Interline Passenger Procedure) as defined by the Acriss.

To drive a van, do I need a special driving licence?
All our vans can be driven without a special driving licence.

Can I choose the car model?
Our vehicles may be booked by category only. Unless availability of a specific model has been formaly confirmed, we only guarantee the category reserved. All car groups and models are available at all our locations.

Is insurance included in the rate quoted?
When you rent a vehicles from us, Third Party Liability cover for Bodily Injury and Property Damage is provided, in accordance with the legal requirements of the country.
This cover is automatically included in the rental at no extra cost. The level of coverage provided is limited upto Euro 84.363 for Property Damage and Euro 140.605 for Bodily Injury.

What does LDW or Loss Damage Waiver mean?
Loss and Damage Waiver relieves the customer of any responsibility for loss or damage to the rental vehicle, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms of the rental agreement. This cover is mandatory and automatically included in the rates. But, certain types of damage like underbody and overhead damage,  tyres, under carriage damage or interior damage are excluded. In case of negligence (scratches and damages caused by improper car manipulation) or intent of driving under influence of alcohol or drugs, the customer liability will be claimed up full value of damage. Our rental counter staff will be happy to give you more details on this cover.

Is there any  additional coverage available?

  • PAI (Personal Accident Insurance)

This cover is particularly recommended for the driver, who would not be covered by the rental vehicle’s Third Party Liability policy for Death or Permanent Disability occurring as a result of an accident s(he) causes herself/himself. It’s included in the rates. The level of the coverage provided is limited. Our rental counter staff will be happy to give you more details on this cover.

What is Rental Agreement?
The rental agreement is the formal contract, signed by Europcar and the customer at the time of check-out, which shows the terms of the rental, the vehicle statement and the rate applied.

What documents do I need to present at the Europcar counter when I pick up my car?
You will need to present a driving licence in your name, issued by your country of residence. The driving licence must be valid (driving licences in characters not readable in the country of rental must be accompanied by International Driving Licence). You will also need to present a valid credit card. An identification document, such as a passport will also be required. The same documents (driving licence and Id Card or Passport) will also be requested to additional drivers.
If you use a Europcar prepaid voucher (with a specified value or the mentioned Group Days apply), you must also present a credit card for the charges which have not been prepaid (extras, refuelling charge, etc.).

Can anyone other than myself drive the car?
Only drivers recorded on the rental agreement are covered by our insurance.

Is there minimum / maximum age for renting a vehicle with Europcar?
You must be aged 21 or over to rent a car and in any cases have held a driving licence for at least one year.

Will there be a deposit taken with my credit card when I pick up the car?
When picking-up the car, a deposit covering 1,5 x the estimated rental charges will be taken.

Do I need to check the condition of the vehicle prior leaving the location?
Yes, You have to check that the vehicle conditions written on the vehicle statement and if an apparent defect is not listed, please proceed to join examination of the vehicle with the Europcar employee.

Is there mileage limit for my rental?
Our rates include unlimited mileage, which means that you can drive as much as you want. However, we recommend that no individual driver be at the wheel for extended periods and / or without taking appropriate rest.

Can I drive into another country?
Some of the cars are permitted to drive into certain Serbia and Montenegro. Check at the reservation time.

What happens if the car breaks down or I have an accident?
Our locations provides clients with complete 24-hour emergency road side assistance. The numbers to be called are printed on the rental agreement.
In the event of a breakdown or an accident, you will receive prompt assistance. You must always remember to complete an accident report form, if an accident happens, giving a full account of the circumstances in which the accident happened.
In the event of an accident, always make out a jointly agreed report with the other person involved. If you don’t, you could be held liable for the cost of repairing the damage done to the rental vehicle. Please read carefully the rental terms and any instructions provided at time of pick-up.

What happens if I return the car late?
Late returns can affect the type of rate assigned to the rental. Returns of less than 1 hour late (up to 59 minutes) will not be charged extra hour. Returns 60 minutes late or later will result in charge of another day. Remember that our insurance only cover you for the period mentioned on the rental agreement.

Do I need to return the car with a full tank?
Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and unless you purchase a full-tank of fuel when you check-out you should return the vehicle with full tank. Otherwise, Europcar will charge for missing fuel at the end of the rental.

Can I extend the rental duration?
Extending of the rental duration is possible at time of check-out or during the rental itself (according to Europcar acceptance). The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment. The additional charges will be payable in EURO or local currency KM. A complementary authorisation may be requested on your credit card. Do remember that you are only covered for the period mentioned on your printed rental agreement.

Can I return the car outside the location opening hours?
Yes, you may return your vehicle when the Europcar location is closed. This service is subject to extra payment. Please check when picking-up the car. The vehicle will remain your responsibility until it has been checked by Europcar representative.

Do I need to check the condition of the vehicle prior leaving the keys at the counter?
Yes, and if you found a new apparent defect (not listed on the vehicle statement remitted at time of pick-up) you have to inform the Europcar employee for a join examination.

Is One Way Rental possible?
If you wish to return the car to a different rental location, please check the rate and feasibility during reservation process.

Aside from the basic rental price, are there any additional charges?
Additional charges to your basic rental rate may include:

  • After hour service: If you pick up or return the car outside the normal opening hours, you’ll be billed “after hours service”. Please check at reservation time.
  • Car delivery/collection: If you want to pick up or return the car out of Europcar locations ( a hotel or another place), you’ll be billed “delivery/collection service”. Please check at reservation time.
  • Additional equipment: Child seat or luggage/ski racks. Please check at reservation time.
  • Airport surcharge: an additional charge which applies when you pick up the car at the Europcar airport location.

What methods of payment are accepted by Europcar?

  • Credit Cards: Europcar accepts major credit cards: American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard, Visa. Credit cards are accepted to the limits authorised by the credit card company.

  • Europcar charge cards and Full Credit vouchers are accepted.

  • Europcar prepaid vouchers ( with a specified value or the mention Group Days Apply) are accepted as means of payment of the rental charges, but they must be accompanied by a credit card for the charges which have not be prepaid (extras, refuelling charge, damages not covered by insurance etc.).

  • Cash: only the lowest vehicle categories may be rented against cash: an additional reference is required and a deposit covering 1,5 x the estimated rental charges  has to be paid in advance.
